question about some bobber parts

Hi, im looking to turn a GZ into a bobber but im having trouble finding the solo spring seat assemblies. Are there any kits that fit the GZ specifically? If not what are people using? I really like the setup kflint has on his. Im also trying to figure out which rear shocks to get to lower the rear end. The ones for the harley sportster on ebay are 11" but I thought the stock GZ shocks were 12" thus not lowering the rear end much.

One more question, how are people mounting the side mirrors to the bottom ends of the handlebars?

Thanks for any help! great appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.I can help you with the shocks. You can use shocks off a Suzuki savage (S40).They are 10 1/2".The shocks off a Honda rebel will also work. You can also take the shock apart and cut the spring.I shortened a set of 11" shocks to 9" in this way.
:)

thank you Blaine! Thats a big help, with 10 1/2" rear shocks I will probably lower the front forks by sliding them up.

The seat thing is what confuses me. Am I going to have to fabricate a solo springer seat to work on the GZ?

I think so,but some of the guys that have built bobbers will be able to answer that better.I know about the shocks from lowering the rear on my Kawasaki 454.

Watch out and measure first before you move the mirrors below the bar ends - you may be hitting your legs or the tank when you turn, and the visibility is not that great.

Thanks, ill make sure to measure!

I cant find any 10 1/2" shocks...on ebay atleast. Random question...does anyone know the dimensions of the tank?

.....but at least it resurrected a topic I haven't read yet! :) I've been wondering about lowering the back end. Anybody know if you can simply swap out shocks independently of any other modifications? Or will swapping out the shocks lead to other modifications that will be needed?
