Frenchville, PA
I finally left the familiarity of my neighborhood (Clifton Springs, NY) and went to Frenchville PA this weekend.

Welcome to PA.
You should try the delaware river run along 611 some time :) |
nice ride!!
Very nice pictures and decsription of your trip!! Can you tell me where did you buy those saddlebags? they look great!
|
Thanks! :) I got those saddlebags as a Christmas present from my husband. I'll have to ask him where he got them from. I know they are Saddleman bags, if that helps you at all.

I used to ride mine around western PA all the time when I lived up there. Anyone on a GZ should avoid the ride between Indiana, Pa and Altoona. The 6% grade on the hills near Summit make the ride almost impossible, even at WOT.

WOT in 4th with the standard sprocket. This was a couple years ago. Also, it might be ok if this was a short hill, but it is one big straight incline up a mountain that ranges from 4-7% grade. Also, the hill is tricky since trucks have to stay in the right lane and the speed limit is 65. trucks generally do 5-10 under, but they are not at all patient for people going slower than that and have been known to run cars off the road.
The rest of western Pa makes for great riding though. I highly recommend taking highway 286 from Indiana to Saltsburg. |

I'm guessing that you haven't been there (or places like that) too often in any vehicle 'cause my experience is that many of the trucks are lucky to sustain 10 mph, much less 55-60 ! If the grade is as you describe, even an EMPTY truck would have trouble doing 55. |
