driving lights ideas

I have motolights on my Ultra and feel they are a great safety item. On the GZ250, I feel the electric system maybe taxed if I put 55 watt motolight on it. I am looking to add lights to the lower frame that don't draw too much, maybe LED. Anyone have a ideas on lights, the switch and mount. Thanks in advance

I have used these on several bikes and changed the bulbs to 20w floodlight bulbs. The charging system will handle them and they make a big difference night & day.I have always wired them up to come with the key and stay on.A lot of people will say not to wire them without a switch.I have never had any problems wiring them this way.
:)

The Radiant Effect lights with 20 watt bulbs is about the limit of the GZ charging system. If you want light they are pretty good for the money spent. If you want to create a triangle effect for oncoming traffic to see you can get away with LED MR-16 bulbs. I have them on my Vstrom and they are okay for that application. They don't work well to illuminate the road though.
Lynda has the 20 watt MR-16 halogens on her M-50 crashbars and they fill in the road quite nicely with a Silver Star bulb in the headlight. During daytime riding she is pretty hard to miss in the mirrors. Night riding is something else again.

Oh yeah, there are various LED driving lights that actually light up the road but they are quite expensive. You do get what you pay for in their case.
