Cylinder head gasket replacement

My cylinder head gasket is leaking oil I have to change it. I've worked on a few motors have read the serve manual and it looks easy enough I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or imput. One of my concerns is the timing chain if it comes off the bottom sprocket am I screwed? Can I take off the carb and just set it down not mess with it put it on again an my bike just start up Again? Do I need to change out the fuel lines after I take em off?

When you take the cam chain off,tie it up to make sure it don't come off the bottom sprocket. When you take the carb off, make sure to keep it in a upright position and you should be fine.If your fuel lines are in good shape you can reuse them.If you don't have a inline filter, now would be a good time to install one.Good luck.

In line filter? Like a fuel filter or air filter? Can u put a cold air intake on a gz?

Inline fuel filter.

A cold air intake (i.e. no air filter) is not a good idea.

A inline fuel filter to keep dirt out of the carb. :)

so theres this bolt hanging down out of the front of the cylinder head by the exhaust on the opposite side theres a similar bolt with a nut on it. the bolt hanging down has no nut and oil is leaking out of this. im trying to figure out whats going on.

The nut has vibrated loose and came off. Before you go to work of changing gasket, you should get another nut and install it with some loctite. Most of the time this will stop the leak. These two nuts have a habit of getting loose & should be checked once in a while.
Good luck!
