Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
Based on the dimensions, probably. However, you will have to make sure you mount them as high as possible on the fender as the one on the exhaust side is likely to touch it otherwise. Do you have the saddle mounting brackets from Suzuki? They aren't really very functional, but they do serve to keep bags from getting sucked into the spokes. Measure your bike from the bolts on the fender trim down to the exhaust - I think its pretty close to ten inches.
Some folks on here have remedied the exhaust/saddlebag issue by plating the bottom of the bags (with sheet metal.) Having bought leather bags (the suzuki stock ones) I don't recommend them unless the bike and the bags are strictly for show. Ballistic nylon with a zipper or velcro is a lot easier to deal with and handles things like wind and rain better. |
Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
I had some that size on my GZ. They held a lot, but I did have issues with it hitting the exhaust. Finally solved that by riveting an aluminum plate to the bottom of the bag. I like the look of the leather bags, but they do require some routine maintenance to keep them in good condition. If you have a way to put some type of heat shield on and you can get them for a good price then I'd say go for it.

Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
Thanks All for your reply.
@blaine ... Height is not 15-1/4, it is 10. I got following reply from seller, when asked details about the bags. "These are real leather and are adjustable. for all practical purposes they will fit any bike. no support is needed. The bags themselves are fairly soft but the back of each back has a plastic insert so it stays stiff and will not interfere with wheels Thank You Nick Mouw" |

Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
Depends what you intend putting in 'em. My leather saddlebags are as much use as a chocolate fire guard. One is full of waterproofs, bungee cords etc, & the other won't hold much more than 4 cartons of milk. My box is MUCH more useful.[attachment=0:1cx4himu]b11.jpg[/attachment:1cx4himu]

Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
Thanks Blaine for your explanation. MY bad, I did not get it first time.
@ alantf ... Those Bags look huge & Cool. What are its dimensions? Where did U get it from? Was mounting easy? Thanks -K |
Re: Will this Saddle bag fit?
I'll check the dimensions later, & post them for you. Fitting was real easy. Just remove the rear seat, throw the bags over, then replace the seat.
10 minutes max. They're real thick leather, so I've never needed the bag guards, & I've never had any problems in the 4 years they've been on the bike. I did need to rivet an aluminium plate underneath, for heat protection, though. Like I said, even though they're large(ish) they don't seem to hold a lot, & I reckon that solid boxes would have been a better choice for me, Because I use the bike as a workhorse - usually full of groceries or tools. |
