Cargo experience: saddlebag vs trunk
 

Anybody have any info on the relative "bumpiness" of a motorcycle saddlebag vs, say a Camry trunk? More bouncy, less bouncy, about the same? I'm wondering if i am shaking my lappies to death. The ride on Bike doesn't feel all that more jouncy to me than my piece of shit Toyota (shocks and struts LONG gone!) and, at least the GZ doesn't have a overwhelming desire to pull to the left (I think it's a death wish.)

The main problem I've found is carrying eggs. When I do the supermarket run, I put the eggs (which are in the egg cartons) in the back box. I've got to be extremely careful going over the speed bumps/sleeping policemen (don't know what you call them in America!) that seem to spring up overnight, or I don't need to scramble the eggs when I get home. This is the only problem I have with both saddlebags/back box. :2tup:

Honestly, if you travel with it often, I would suggest a few of foam blocks. Assuming you have a laptop bag, put a foam block below it and maybe sandwich it between a couple. I'd use 3" thick dense upholstery sheet foam.

As you know, the less you agitate your hard drive the better. Maybe you should get a SSD and then you won't have to worry.

BTW, when I transport mine (not too often) on the bike, I wrap the case in a couple of thick towels so that it doesn't move around and is fairly well padded.

Good suggestion Sarris but it's all I can do to cram the lappie bag itself into the lame ass Suzy bags. As it is, it sticks out the top (but I can still get the $#$@%! buckles closed.)
