New Senior Rider
Better late than never! I took the BRC coarse at the local college in Sept. and learned on a GZ250 so thought it would be a good bike to start with. Found a 2003 at with 900 miles on it at a local shop. Have ridden about 200 miles since then but now it's cold and rainy here in Minnesota so might have to wait until spring to get out again. Any other 60+ ladies out there? Would love to hear from you.

My grandkids call me Ninni and my husband Papa, hence the ninnipapa. We live on a small lake in Mn and the kids nicknamed it "Camp Ninnipapa"

Welcome from the GWN. Why did you wait until you were a grandmother to start riding ?

Re: New Senior Rider
Guess I'm entering my "second childhood". Used to love horseback riding when I was a kid. Get that same "dog with his head out the window" feeling when riding on my motorcycle. Have recently had a "life is short" epiphany. Hope this doesn't shorten it further!

Want a long life ? Option #1. Just sit in a rocking chair and wait for the end. Option #2. Just go out there and smell the air and smile, sing to yourself and feel alive and feel a lot younger than yesterday. #2 works for me. |
Re: New Senior Rider
Welcome and good looking bike! Sorry the weather up that way has shut you down for a while, maybe you will get a warm snap so you can ride some soon. If the bike is gonna sit for a while you would do well to take some "winterizing" precautions with the fuel system so it will not give you trouble when you are ready to go in a few months.

Re: New Senior Rider
I think a lot of us started later. (I waited 30 years after riding a moped to get my first "real" motocycle.)
Read up on how to store your bike for the winter. They don't like to sit unridden for long periods of time. By the end of next summer you'll be posting about how you traded her in for a 1100cc V twin. |
