Hello from Seattle
Hey guys, wanted to join the gz250's even though I ride a tu250x...I'm but a forumless rider with no home. I hope I don't get too slandered for joining :poke2:
I've been lurking the site a few times and finding that there are a lot of similarities between the two bikes. So far the major difference is the FI vs. Carb'd, compression ratio and a few other minor stuff and the aesthetics. I finally decided yesterday to join while reading up on the 43/15 front sprocket change to 16th front :2tup: ... aside from different swingarm tubing and chain tensioners, the similarities are so close.. I've been planning on doing this and have the sprocket, just haven't gotten time to do it yet. I will definitely get to it sooner after reading the thread. Lastly, there's no manual available for this yet so I perused the gz manual and again, found so many similarities. These bikes are not certified "environmentally" for sale in California, understand you can buy used out of state but not definitely not new. Think Suzuki is trying to get 2010 model certified.

Welcome seattle. Tires look narrower, but the seat looks just as crappy as ours.

Are those stock handlebars? Looks more like a sport bike than a standard, which they wanted it to look like.

New GZ250 - the bars are not stock. i ordered those from newbonneville.com and are called "m" bars. I wanted something lower and not so upright - stock bars made for just a lot of wind resistance. I had clubmans on them but they were too low. These bars are much nicer on the wrists and won't come near the tank. I like them because when I ride around town, I can sit upright if I want but also tuck with a lot more ease when the speed picks up. also makes push-steering a lot easier. the stock bars have about 3" rise and sweeps back a bit for the standard fit. alanmcorcoran - the tires are a bit narrow, when these wear out, i'm considering going up to some avons. the seat..yes. crap. really really comfy soft though. really. i've looked into reupholstering it someday. i think i'll have to do something to the rear fender (like take it off) to make the rear seat lower and more flush with the front...i'd like to narrow the front a bit so to loose the tractor seat look. other than that...it's a very great bike. i hope to keep it for a long time. |
