new to the site, thanks for changing my mind

hey, i'm tim :rawk:

Bought my gz a few months back cuz i got it for a steal. Never thought i'd go to a bike so small, but it's a nice lookin ride so i went for it. It's run great, but i thought it was going to get crazy expensive to do any mods since i couldn't find any aftermarket parts designed for it, then ifound this site, you've opened my eyes to great possibilities.

:??: Has anyone done a big bore kit?

Welcome Tim. Glad to have you join us. There are a lot of helpful hints and experience here to make life with the GZ a lot more fun. In the pic there is a Vstrom parked in front of you, anybody you know ??

And the short answer is: No, there is no "kit" and doing it at all borders on impossible.
If you want/need more speed, get a bigger bike.

Several of us on here have migrated up to 500-800 cc........and a couple have even gotten REALLY carried away.

I'm truly amazed when I hear about bikes with 1900cc engines. My Citroen C3 (as advertised on English t.v. by The Fonz!) is only 1400cc (& it hasn't even got 16 valve twin cam) but it can comfortably go at 90 mph with 4 up plus luggage. Imagine a bike with an engine that's as big as a Kawasaki 500 ltd (that can comfortably go at 90 mph) PLUS my car! Amazing! :??:

Naw ........ It's the Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD that I want, & the damned Japs stopped making the European version last year. It'd burkbuilds I'm jealous of! :)

Alan,
I wish there was some way you could get one, I think you'd really like it. I just finished wiring up a harness for my heated vest and gloves for the upcoming Winter. I also installed some LED indirect lighting "underneath" for a little more night visibility. I'm not sure if it will make any real difference but my wife asked me to get it and she feels better so it makes a difference in that important area! I'll have to admit that it looks pretty neat and when I drove to breakfast early Friday morning a bunch of kids at a bus stop were pointing at me as I went by and they don't usually seem to notice me. I got some that you can change the colors with the push of a button on the remote. Basically 15 color choices although the literature says something like 3 million if you set it to cycle through automatically. It also has a feature where they flash or pulse and change colors but you can only do that legally if you aren't on the road.
