TU250

Since I started here with a GZ, and now have a new TU250X,are TU250's going to be included in this fourm? Basicly its the same bike. The XT225 Forum became XT225/XT250 with the intro of the newer XT250. I think it would work ok, with info on both bikes. CMS

How does the TU250 compare with the GZ as far as performance?

I think that's a fine idea, but.......I can't quite agree that it is "basically the same bike".
I doubt anyone would ever mistake one for the other, appearance wise. IMHO, the TU looks more like a dirt bike or dual-purpose and certainly is more of a "standard" than a cruiser.
They both ARE made by Suzuki and both have an engine that is about 250 cc's.

I've seriously considered adding a TU forum. If we can somehow get our hands on a digitized version of the Owner's and Service Manuals, that'd be awesome.

I say welcome aboard, not everyone here drives a GZ 250 and some of us did and now don't but we are still here because this is a great forum and we like it and each other (although sometimes it might not appear that way to someone who just started reading). If Patrick adds a TU forum that's great and if he doesn't I hope it won't deter you from hanging around!

Re: TU250

The TU250 has the same engine bottom as the GZ250, and the same gearbox, clutch, etc. The cylinder is different, it has 2 valves instead of 4, and is fuel injected (closed loop with catalytic converter) instead of carburated. The frame is different, but if you start looking closely, you'll see a lot of common components. Power output and speed are close to the same. It is indeed a standard, not a cruiser.

It got a fantastic writeup in Motorcycle Consumer News. They said it could hold its own in the twisties against bikes with much larger displacements, just because it handles so well. They said the power delivery is very even and smooth due to the well executed fuel injection system. I looked at one at a local dealership. Beautiful looking thing. Looks a lot like some of the classic British singles from the good ole' days. Oh, do I want one!

If the TU is included, we could also include the GN250 :) Same engine and transmition :)

Re: TU250

Hey Gripped, you have a home here, if you really think about it, any problem you have on your bike that is not fuel injection related we are instantly gonna be able to relate to our problems on the GZ. Because the GZ and the TU are so much alike it is ridiculous, and the GN250 is the same way, so welcome to the Group with your oddball GZ250's that you own.
