Fuel leak/evap canister

I have a 2003 california model. Recently it started leaking fuel from the evap canister under the bike. Any Ideas?? The manual say to service the canister every 2000 miles, but it is not able to be opened, so how do you service it?? It costs @ $180 to replace it so I am concerned. Also the fuel petcock has devolped a small leak . It does not drip, just gets wet on the outside with fuel. I replaced the lines but it did not help. Suzuki does not sell a rebuild kit and the fuel petcock is @ $76 to replace. Do you think the 2 leaks could be related?? Any help would be greately appreciated.

Does it only do it after you fill up with gas, or constantly no matter the amount of gas in the tank?

It happens all the time. The amount of fuel in the tank has no effect.

My suggestion is take it to a good mechanic, have them remove the CA emiision controls, re-jet the carb, and tune her up.

You'll never have that problem again, the bike will run herds better, and you'll spend less too.
