Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders

I think that pretty much sums up why ATGATT and mature riding is so important. |
Re: Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders
Now I'm gonna have nightmares.
I know there's gotta be some dead guys involved in more than a few of those photos, but I found some of them pretty funny. I'm a bad person. I had no idea how easily a motorcycle can mate with a compact. It's like some sort of crazy inter-transportational mutant porn. |

Some of those accidents were pretty brutal. I bet a bunch of them were preceded by the phrase "Hey ya'll, watch this!" |
Re: Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders

Re: Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders
The purpose of the site wasn't to persuade you to stop riding, just to understand the risks involved.
However, even ATGATT wouldn't have prevented the damage incurred with most of those accidents. |
Re: Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders
Agreed. In my opinion its just a matter of being careful and responsible for your own safety, however mishaps happen you just havta avoid them wherever possible. I ride with a good fullface helmet a good thick jacket, gloves, jeans and workboots. I know thats not the best protection in the world but its all I can afford so I accept the risk. You just gotta do the best you can to be safe. My father had a motorcycle crash years ago and suffered a life changing head injury, he always said to me "when you ride wear your helmet" so I do everytime I ride. I slso think that maybe some of the crashes in the pictures shown were riders 'pushing the envelope'..Just my 2 cents worth.. :rawk:

Re: Road Rash -- Required Reading for New Riders
I counted 22 pictures where AGATT wouldn't have meant shit. I see a bunch of retards on sportbikes showing off or doing something really stupid. The rest were inconclusive based on the photo.
I pride myself on being able to pay attention to my surroundings, always looking for a 'way out', keep myself out of dangerous situations and the ability to ride my bike. I dont ride like a dick ... so that puts me in a much less percentage bracket of taking myself out. If i ever get nailed its going to be from behind or side swiped by someone running a light. No gear is gonna help me there. |
