Duct tape chopper

The German police stopped this Harley Davidson chopper on the Autobahn -you know, that's the highway where, when you are going 100 mph in the left lane, the people on your tail keep flashing for you to move over so they can pass.

It is owned by an Italian going home from Scandinavia. Now, he will have to arrange for transport home.

The list:
- no front brake
- front fork held together by duct tape
- unstable frame, welds bad
- seat loose
- no front fender (must have by law, there)
- no turn signals
- missing engine covers

After considering to post this at "Other Bikes" and "Humor", "Safety" won.

Hee Hee. Reminds me of some of the bikes we rode when I was young. My Jawa had no mirrors, no fenders (at times), no front brakes, a board for a seat (when mine was stolen once), no lights front or back, no such thing as turn signals, and none of us had ever seen a helmet. Rode them all day long. At that time I'm not sure there were any laws about how safe a bike was. If it kick started and moved under its own power you could put it on the road.

Wow. Just wow. I can't imagine riding that.

A Harley? Well, heck, he was just trying to patch the bike up so he could make it back home! They'll probably find the engine covers laying on the road a few miles back from where they pulled him over. ;)

If that thing was mine I would let the police impound it and never look back.

Re: Duct tape chopper

Reminds me of my old car. I had a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis it was held together with duck tape and bungee cords. The muffler fell off so it was loud as hell. My turn signal switch lever was a pair of vice grips. The windows had to be pulled up or down. and the list goes on. :crash:

Had it for three years until my apartment complex towed it off as an "inoperative vehicle" it was impounded and they wanted more than what I paid for it to get it out, so I let them have it.

Re: Duct tape chopper

He was making "on the fly" repairs just trying to get it home from the custom shop where he bought it. Why doesn't "the man" just give him a break. All those extra parts like brakes and fenders and turn signals tend to rattle off of the Harleys rather quickly, you know. He duct taped the functional items, like the forks and frame.
