The entire province is home to bears. They regularily come into town to forage in garbage cans etc. Anyone with fruit trees in their yard will have furry friends whether they want them or not. It is not uncommon to round a curve and see a bear in your path. Bears have become very dependant on human garbage which is a bad thing overall. This especially true in campsites with the amount of stuff people leave behind. Just share the country with them and be glad there are still some left.
