Must Be Winter
As the title implies, it must be winter. I have visited this site daily for quite some time and you can hear the crickets chirping in the background. No new projects going on? Any problems that were posted that have been resolved?
No worries. I just miss the interaction among all of us members and understand that it is hard to get enthused about motorcycling when it is -15 degrees out there in many locations. Hope all is well with you all and that you had a wonderful holiday season. As always, Safe Riding.:hi: |
Yea.....I always think that the old site was much more "chatty".

Yup, it is winter alright. We had a lot of snow lately but now we are back to our usual winter fare of rain and fog. I actually had a reason to justify owning a 4x4 after 10 years ownership.
As for the forum being quiet we have to realize that many folks have moved on to other places too. Also many folks are still recovering from the Christmas season and New years. As Winter moves to Spring there will be more threads and folks with questions about the care and feeding of a GZ. I am waiting for the annual bike show here in my area sometime in March. Maybe I'll see something new and more exciting than my CTX700. |
For the first time in 117 days, Las Vegas finally got rain. The other good news is that it didn't all come down like a vengeance in 5 minutes. It was a nice, light, steady rain that lasted about a day and a half. Our ski area got it's first snow of the season as well. Anxious to break out the boards and slide down the hill. Cleaned up the bike and will do a ride later today as the sun is back out.
Are you not that impressed with your CTX700, Water Warrior 2, or just curious about new toys? |

Good to know. Been bike shopping myself. On the fence right now about a 2008 Harley Dyna Glide. Only 12K miles on it and in great shape.

Lets see... :???:
Winter talk... Heading home today and a cold front hit... :wtf: First the thunderstorm soaked me. :( Then the North wind froze me. :wtf: Just call me ice man Steve on a motorcycle. :hehe: Get home and the forecast is for freezing tomorrow morning. :hmm: Gonna wait till that gets up to 40 before I go out :ride: This evening... However... :D |
We must make sure our anti-freeze level is up to snuff.
|
Ah yes, antifreeze. Thought I might mention this from personal experience. Antifreeze for your vehicle should be mixed 50/50. Any stronger and it will rot out your radiator with expensive results. Being from the Great White North with some very low temps I used to mix it much stronger but that was a mistake. A 50/50 mixture will gell up at extreme temps that is another kettle of fish kind of thing. I would often just leave a vehicle running all night if I suspected the worst case scenario.
As for the other kind of antifreeze I have experience with that too. It will gel up your brain if you let it. I barely dodged that particular bullet years ago. |
*spldart pours antifreeze on his air cooled engine* :P

I keep hoping for an early spring. I have my doubts though. Looking forward to getting up on 2 wheels again.
Had a weird dream the other night..........some one stole my CTX! All I could think was who the H*LL would steal a CTX? It certainly wouldn't be high up on my list of bikes to steal. The weather here right now is below freezing at night and slightly above freezing during the day. A mixture of rain and/or snow whenever it wants. Once it warms up to a decent temp I can go down into the Bat Cave, pump up the tires a bit and do a slight chain adjust. The Bat Cave is all unheated concrete parking and colder than a witch's heart. Hmmm, that brings memories of my first wife to mind. Sure glad she fired me after I wouldn't change to fit her image of a mindless bread winner. Today is a good day. Woke up with a heart beat, can't beat that. |
It has been cooler here in Vegas but certainly not enough to not be out riding (low to mid 60's). The wind is the only annoying factor. That is what I love about it down here, except for the triple digit heat in the summer. We usually have comfortable riding weather for 9 to 10 months give or take. As I stated before, I don't miss that weather up North after working in it for almost 3 decades. Retirement keeps us on a tight budget but we manage to get plenty of play time in traveling, hiking, camping, skiing, shooting, etc.
Hope your weather breaks soon so you can get out riding again. Stay safe. |
After a really dry summer (the farmers were all complaining) we've just had three weeks of torrential rain. It's dry now, and at 9 o'clock in the morning the temperature's around 14Âșc. Still cold enough at night to have the heater on.

I swear this thread should have been called oldies but goodies (referring to us posters).
