That bike's way too shiny, if you've had it for a year.

Funny you all notice how clean. fact is i just hit 2000 miles and my trick is i don't ride in the rain and I've only washed it 3 times with the hose, but every time i ride it i wipe it with spray wax. I like it to look new. i have a four wheeler that i ride hard but it to shines just like new too. and it a 2009 also. funny in them 2000 miles I have also changed the oil and filter with full synthtic mobil 1 three times already. this is the smallest cc bike that I've owned that I push pretty hard when I take It to work @80 miles round trip. Oil changes pay off and I really want to see what I cant get out of this bike. first oil change was done @ 200 miles, 2nd was @ 1000 and 3rd was @ 2000. now I do It every !000. I bought the bike in April of 2011, and it wasn't even the bike I wanted. But after a little thinking an talking myself into it Im glad I made the choice.after adding I few Items its really turned out to be a great little cruiser.

Seems like overkill :) Suzuki say every 3000 miles (and they're the people who make the bike, and don't want to pay out on the warranty) Do you change the filter at every oil change? Most folk go by the 3000 in the handbook, with no ill effects reported. Looks like you're just putting money into the pockets of the oil company & filter manufacturers. Still - it's your money you're wasting. :)

Looks great! I wish I had a stereo on mine. Get a little tired of hearing myself sing (or whistle.)

An MP3 & earbuds are a good, cheap, alternative. :2tup:

Re: hi from wisconsin

Gotta agree with Alantf about the many oil changes. A good syn oil will easily go 3000 miles with little or no degradation to it's properties. The only real thing to worry about is the shear resistance of the oil and that is easily monitored. When the tranny gets a little balky and a bit harder to shift it is breaking down the shear properties of the oil. Modern oils are tough and I highly doubt the GZ has enough power running through the tranny to harm the oil's shear properties. Save the extra $ for the new tires you will need eventually.

ya I agree its over kill but I figure why not give it a try and see what I can get out of it. I bought two three packs of filters online for under 15 bucks a pack. I guess why I did it most of all is for when I do drive it to work 40 miles one way full trottle for long periods of time on such a small bike motor scares me so I figure why not try to help the bike last as long as i can by alittle cheep maintance.

Looks like the only down side is wearing out the drain plug.

Looks good! Welcome. You'll find more here than you'll ever need. Like a GZ doesn't have a master link! LOL! Yeah, just found that out today.

Most "factory" chains don't.You will mostly find a master link in replacement chains.Just be sure to keep the closed end of "lock" pointed in direction of rotation.
