Nice Fairing on your Cafe Racer. :2tup: Was thinking about something a little larger though. :skull: |
Re: Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
Like a full touring fairing?
I don't know that you will have much luck unless you find one for a similarly sized bike and then custom fab a way to mount it. |

Maybe Vetter fairings?

Re: Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
jonathan180iq & alantf
Not that large. Something smaller to look appropriate to the GZ250. Sarris~ Nice Link....those are some really expensive fairings. bonehead~ Vetter...that's closer to what I had in mind. The hard part is the GZ250 headlight is not like most Bikes. |

I'm looking for something more like Jaime's. approximately like http://www.hdforums.com/forum/attach...g-xl-visor.jpg or a smaller (bike size appropriate version of this http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/P...rchy-tv-16.jpg Obviously as cheap as possible, I'm not looking to spend much on this. |
Re: Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
Actually I have this bad/good habit of collecting Motorcycle stuff.
I already have 2 different sized hard Fairings, 7 different sets of hard Saddlebags and 3 different Trunks to choose from including a side-opening one. I just have to decide & see what looks good. :) |
Re: Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
I believe they are most commonly referred to as "bug sheilds" or simple "headlight fairings".
And for the record, I don't have that fairing anymore. I don't even have the bike ;) This was all like 2 years ago |
Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
Finally got it on after spending all this Evening with my
own created mounting hardware ( half mine...half original ) and it was now about 1am in the morning when I did my test ride. I can change the color later but for now it's just to see how it worked. http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/4...fairing047.jpg http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/905...fairing048.jpg http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/5...fairing049.jpg http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8...fairing050.jpg http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/2...fairing051.jpg http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5...fairing053.jpg :2tup: |

Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
In the 1980s Shoei made Fairings, Saddlebags & Trunks of many sizes.
These are NOS ( New Old Stock ) brand new and never used but not made anymore. The protection these provide for your head, body and hands are outstanding. Not as asthetically appealing as a naked Bike or using a clear windshield but a Motorcycle is something to be ridden and not just to be looked at. http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/9...hqmokpqe0u.jpg I'm really surprised how that blue color turned out in the pictures. I need to take some in the daylight as it's actually a bit darker. These come in white, black and blue available now on E-Bay. http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/7...hqyokoweyj.jpg The instructions shown are for the Shoei FM-2 and FM-3. They are pretty much identical as far as the mounting instructions show with the only exception being is the FM-2 is 28 1/4" wide & 22 1/6" high and the FM-3 is 25" wide & 21" high. The handlebar mounts are usable but I had to come up with longer brackets to reach clamping on the turn signals. I took pictures of that so I will post them later. I'll be glad to help anyone here. |
Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
Okay...here's the pictures I promised of my off-the-shelf Home Depot
mounting hardware that needed to be a lot longer than what it came with. Pretty self-explanatory from the pictures. I just used an ordinary Door Bracket with a Clamp to go on the Turn Signals with another smaller Clamp widened with one end sandwiched between the larger Clamp and the other end attached on the long Bracket that also attaches at the other end of it to the bolts that mount up the Headlight. I used longer 6mm Bolts ( than those shown in pictures ) on the other parts but I did use the supplied 6mm Bolts that connect up by the Headlight. Wrapped the Brackets with Electrical Tape and I used plenty of neoprene gaskets, metal washers & 6mm nuts with secondary back-up wing nuts. The Clamps ended up being at the 12'oclock position up on the Turn Signals to make it a perfect sized fit. I'm really amazed how quickly and easily this all worked out the first time I did it. If I can do it so can you. http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/6...fairing025.jpg http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/9...fairing026.jpg http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/3...fairing027.jpg http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/3...fairing041.jpg http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/939...fairing045.jpg Note: The 3rd picture shown was the theory. In practice I had to reverse the Bracket from that shown. The Bracket hole was on the lower edge that fitted on top of the Turn Signal with the Bracket hole mounting by the Headlight on the upper edge. :2tup: |

Re: Fairing on Suzuki GZ250?
Hello,
I have a different bike but am looking at the same fairing. I cannot seem to find a couple of measurements on the web. Could you tell me what diameter the headlight opening is at the rear and front of the fm2? Also, on the profile of it, what is the difference between the rear at the bottom and the top of the "batwings". My bike is a standard (circa 2006) and the bars do not have much pullback and the forks are not raked out. I want a tight fit, but don't want to do a lot of trimming. a profile pic with the bars straight would be awesome. Thanks LMJ301 PS do you still like it? |
I have been wanting to put a fairing on my bike as well, however from all my digging I don't see one like I am wanting at all.
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...atwing-fairing This is what I want, I just don't know what to look for on specs. I'm not to terribly worried about brackets, I can fab something up, I just want to be able to get the right size. Any help would be awesome. I'm going for a bagged GZ and comfort ride. |
Have you considered a larger windshield to give you the wanted coverage and then painting the lower portion. That might give you more options.
