Do not try to hot wire the bike. The only solution is have lock smith make a house call or try to get the bike to the lock smith. Spare keys are really cheap in the long run.

Just like Water Warrior said, don't tear the wiring apart... you can easily make a mishap into a mess. I haven't looked at my GZ, but typically manufacturers put a "key code" on the lip of the locks or ignition. Find this number, and call a locksmith. If you have the key code, they might not even need to see the bike to make the key.

IIRC there is a interlock in the ignition box that prevents the bike from being started if the factory key switch is tampered with.Kind of a theft deterrent. It would have been much easier to get a key made.

i doubt it blaine. not many bikes hav a system like that. some bikes you can unplug your old ignition switch and install one off another similar bike and t fires up. i think something is wrong with the way you wired it. sometimes colors arent the same with aftermarket stuff

Just for the heck of it - the switch is in the RUN position and it's wired in correctly, the clutch is pulled in, the bike's in neutral, sidestand up, any combination of the above, etc, etc?
When you say "no fire", what exactly do you mean? Is the starter turning the engine over or not? If the starter is turning the engine, do you mean it just won't start? Are you using the choke as you should?

I done some research and found that a key switch other than a stock one will not work with the ignition box,and cause a no fire issue, and ruin the ignition box.I'm not sure of the reason why,but it has something to do with the grounds between the ignition box,and key switch.

are you sayin this bike has anti theft? i highly doubt it. im not positive but i bet i could go outside shove someting in the ignition to make it switch over to on and start the bike. no way dude, ther is now way this bike has a transiever in the key switch that will only let it complete the circuit if the right key is installed. i wonder though and im not trying to say your wrong but damn man thats a long shot! got any proof?

That would be leaving the OEM switch in the circuit. That is not what was been discussed.I said a after market switch will not work because it causes a surge to do damage to the ignition box. That is totally different than using brute force to turn the original key switch to the "on" position to start the bike.

I have a very distant memory of some kind of built in gizmo in the ignition switch that has to be used to operate the bike. Not an imobilizer or anti theft device but a just a small electrical item that is needed.
