First pics after pulling it in the shop

http://www.dickeysgarage.com/images/...orscooter2.jpg 2001 - bought it used and haven't changed anything yet. Currently on the way are some riser extensions though as the drag bars hit the tank and I don't want to commit to any real purchases before I've determined a good direction for the bike. Previous owner did the drilling to the muffler. I had not realized that wasn't a standard issue detail until reading on this forum. I've got a welder though and fully intend to correct that. If an engine displaces less than 6 liters or won't turn more than 10k rpm, nobody benefits with it making a lot of racket. |
Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
What's that car in front of it? Is that a Troy Bilt Junior (I own one...I put a new motor in it three years ago. It's over 20 years old and I'm the original owner)?

Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
It can't be a Delorean.... too skinny.
I want to know too! |
Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
Nah, that's my DeLorean.
http://www.dickeysgarage.com/images/...thedragon2.JPG http://www.dickeysgarage.com/images/...thedragon1.JPG //that is my friend's Troy Built tiller. We're putting in a new garden and he loaned it to me. My current mower is the Murray lawnmower that my father bought from Wal-Mart in 1988. I've rebuilt the carburetor once several years back but aside from an ignition issue that just cropped up last week, I've not had any issue with it. I'll tear it down and replace the shaft key and test the ignitor when I get time later on this week or so. |
Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
Ya, I had problems with my mower and weedeater at the start of the season,
they BOTH started. |

Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
Couldn't read it in the first two pictures.
Custom liscense plates can say anything - assuming that first letter is a "W" would have just been wishful thinking. Dickey, is your car complete with Flux Capacitor? |
Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
At one time, I had aspirations of putting one together as part of a sound system. Flashing with the beat sort of thing. Never found time for it though.

COOL! Nice to see there is actually someone else with a GZ250 AND a DeLorean! I just bought the bike last week, but I have had my DeLorean since 2002!

Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
You on any of the dmc forums or lists? I used to be but the crowd I'm used to running with has an easier time of poking fun at themselves and I just couldn't get used to the dmc characters so I quit hanging around them. Serious people are bad for the soul.
How do you like your Bricklin? I've not ever seen one in real life and was always curious what the acryllic looked like in person. |
Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
In the past I posted on the DML, DMCHelp and a few times on DMCTalk. I agree with you about some of the funky characters on those forums. :) Lately I only post on our own Arizona DeLorean Club Yahoo Group forum. Anyone is welcome to join! We have a great group of people here in AZ, and we are a very active club.
To answer your question, the Bricklin body is horrible! The acrylic body was a good idea in theory. In actual use (especially in AZ) it leaves a lot to be desired. The fiberglass under the acrylic is fine, but the thin acrylic layer cracks and warps, even in colder climates. Also, the molded-in color fades very easily. I had always wanted a Bricklin to sit side by side with my DeLorean at car shows, and that hasn't changed, but I have had kit cars that were put together better (and had nicer fit and finish) than the Bricklin! Re: First pics after pulling it in the shop
I love that car!! Always wanted one, but they are next to impossible to find and very expensive. Excellent work of art and machinery. I really wish someone would start making them again, beautiful cars.
