GZ250 idle speed advice
 

Hello guys. I finally got the vacuum hose connected and now the bike runs nice. Shifting is smoother. This is my question: started the bike, was warm, then I rode for about 50 minutes and then I started noticing the idle speed increaing when stoping at lights, or stoping in general, So i stopped, put the bike in neutral, and recorded this video so that you guys can tell me if this sound is the sound of the bike or if something has to be adjusted... That is pretty fast for an idle. Reduce the idle and send us another video. We'll have things ironed out in no time.

Mine does that too, when it is cold the idle is normal to slow, and when it is heated up, the idle rpms are higher. You will have to find a sweet spot with the idle adjustment so that it doesn't shut off on you after 2 miles, but doesn't idle too high after 20 miles.

Suzuki recommend an idle speed (with engine HOT) of between 1200 and 1400 RPM.

You know where the engine idle speed knob is, right?

Get it warm again and then set it. We'll go from there.

When an engine is cold, it is fuel hungry. Once it's warm it's air hungry. Thats the reason for the white adjustment knob on the engine. Normal to adjust it to the correct idle once it's warm.

Hello, and thanks for all the pointers.. So please watch the video below and tell me how it sounds now. I have adjusted it as you mentioned, It runs great, but then again another question rises, If I close the choke all the way, as I did just to try, it dies ( when stopped to test not on the road ) so I just kept the choke opened a little bit, ( before the lightning sign ), and that is how it sounds. I did notice that after adjusting it, the choke is working, let's say: smoother , as before I would close it, and the bike would continue to sound like shown in the first video not causing any change as opposed as now that if I open it the idle would start increasing and decreasing when closing it.

please tell me opinions, and thanks...

Sounds pretty good to me.Usually if you need to keep a little choke on after the bike warms up,is a indication of a dirty pilot jet passage in the carb.Try some Berrymans b12 or SeaFoam in a tank of fuel.That should clean things up nicely.
