goose, it is comfy, I rode it to work this morning and felt good. I think I need to lower it just a couple of inches to hit the sweet spot on my back.

Ahhh, yes. The all-elusive "B" spot.

what I did to my gz250 today is got it washed, waxed and polished.

Water Warrior 2 12-31-2013 07:31 PM

Lowering the back pad will also make the bracket less likely to bend too.

Looks very good in the pic, well done.

grasshopper 01-01-2014 12:32 PM

today I took about 3 inches off the backrest and lowered the pad. looks better now. I also tightened my drive chain.

What I did to my gz today is install a 2005-2009 Suzuki boulevard c90 sissy bar backrest. To make it work I had to drill one hole in each bracket and install some longer bolts. I paid 39.99 for it new from ebay.

Water Warrior 2 01-04-2014 09:18 PM

That was a real bargain and the sissy bar looks pretty good too. Ya did good.

grasshopper 01-05-2014 08:24 AM

thanks ww.

Just wait till it is warm enough and dry enough for a ride up to Lilloeet and enjoy the bike's abilities on the road. A lot of the road north of Pemberton was resurfaced recently.

Qasual - Ooohhh, sounds great. I think I prefer to go 200+ on the track and if I bail it will be a little more safe on the track.

Water Warrior 2 01-06-2014 11:57 AM

The track is the only place to bail if you have to do a get off. The GZ might surprise you on the track but don't get run over by the fast guys. Lynda enjoyed pushing her GZ through the twisties once she learned to trust counter steering.

Cathy 01-06-2014 11:59 AM

Cathy never really learned how to ride a bicycle (lol) so hopefully teaching her counter-steering is easy since she did not learn the wrong way with a bicycle first.hahaha.

Get a copy of Proficient Motorcycling. It has a very good explaination of counter steering and why it works on any 2 wheeler.

Qasual - I think I have Full throttle laying around somewhere in my room and we watched Twist of the wrist together. School is going to help a ton though.

On topic; planning to winterize the GZ. Got some Rotella T6 and OEM filters ready, just gotta find my brush for the chain and also adjust it. Oh yeah and a clotter pin.

Yeah....but but winter is almost over.

Watch the oil usage with the T6. It may or may not use oil so be on your toes. In the future you can get Hi Flo HF-136 oil filters for less and they are the same thing minus the Suzuki name.

X10bws 01-07-2014 08:13 PM

Hey Qasual, were you at modern motorcycling on commercial today? Went there to order some parts and Aaron mentioned another GZ250 guy came in today too lol.

Cathy 01-08-2014 01:09 AM

Qasual - Hahaha yeah that was me getting a filter for Cathy's bike.

On topic: I told Cathy to read up more on the forum and the service manual so we can be prepared for next season. Also I didn't actually pick up my obe piece race suit because I didn't have the funds yet. Next week for sure !

Cathy 01-09-2014 10:51 AM

Qasual -X10bws Aaron was just talking about you today at Modern, I forgot to order a 16t sprocket so I did today. Didn't know you wete local. We should ride sometime, pm me your number.

Qasual - I actually went to the main page to look for a "Spotted" sub forum. Grr

X10bws 01-11-2014 07:16 PM

A "spotted" section would be pretty cool. We can then see how many other gz250 riders are there in your area.

it was a good day to work on my gz250 a take it for a ride.

grasshopper 01-13-2014 08:48 AM

I put about 85 miles on the gz250 this day.

Goose51683 01-13-2014 04:48 PM

Sounds like a good day in SC.

It hit the 40s today, so I've been seeing a few bikes pop out here and there, but it's still a bit nipply for me.

My first real ride was to work on a day like this. I had the day off but I wanted to ride so I went in....I should have worked cause I spent the next two hours inside drinking coffee, trying to get feeling in my fingers again.

grasshopper 01-13-2014 07:45 PM

when I left to go to the lake it was about 60 degrees on the way back the sun was setting and temp was dropping fast. I didn't think to wear my leather pants and about froze my legs and the family jewels. lol. I have been using hunting gloves on my hands and they keep them warm. I hope the weather gets better for y'all out there.

JohnC 01-13-2014 09:24 PM

40 degrees here today and the roads are covered with salty water, sand and slush with a few ice patches. Saw a guy out on a H-D this afternoon...

grasshopper 01-13-2014 10:34 PM

johnc. that guy must of had a very important meeting.lol.

Cathy 01-14-2014 11:45 AM

Qasual - Did a pretty slick burnout on wet pebbled concrete with Cathy's GZ and swung it around twice before parking her again. Darn you winter !

grasshopper 01-14-2014 11:54 AM

qasual. next time you do that video it and post it. I would like to see that.

Cathy 01-14-2014 12:01 PM

Qasual : Seriously haha, it was nothing special. It was just wet and I thought it would be fun. Maybe this afternoon I will again. I also realized when taking it for a joy ride I lost all feeling of a 600cc sports bike. The GZ felt like a speed demon while going 40km/h haha. To think I was used to rolling first gear too 120km/h in three seconds.

grasshopper 01-14-2014 12:42 PM

lol! yeah! I haven't seen anything like that on a gz250. lol on the speed demon!

Cathy 01-14-2014 12:44 PM

Qasual: Wondering if anyone skiis here, I work up in a resort and the snow is a bit sad. :(

Goose51683 01-14-2014 03:43 PM

I ski, but only when the plows can't make it thru!

jonathan180iq 01-14-2014 03:44 PM

I used to ski a bit, then transitioned to the snowboard because...well, because it's cooler really. I even tried those awesome snowblades things because in my mind they were similar to rollerblades on snow, and I was fairly proficient skater. But Snowboarding was my thing.

Yosemite was probably my favorite. I know you're going to piss on that because be Canadian Rockies are fucking amazing. But still. Yosemite provides an amazing backdrop.

Cathy 01-14-2014 04:21 PM

I board as well, great winter sport when not riding. Umm anyone here own a non-Gz250, I got my self a CBR600rr. Really aiming for track days next season.

X10bws 01-14-2014 05:18 PM

I have a scooter...lol.
