Something about driving a one off that always did it for me. Tel your boy to grab a CB 750 Honda from the early years....cheap and a glut of cheap parts to build a really nice chopper.
Just wondering if you ever solved your starting problem? I also wanted to mention that I looked at the pictures of your builds and you have done very nice work. My Grandson has been licking his lips at the way the bikes look. Just wanted to let you know, Great Job!!!!!
