I've never messed with synthetic in any of my vehicles, but since the GZ250 is air cooled I've been thinking about going synthetic. Might be able to go longer between changes that way. Any thoughts?

There has been a lot of discussion on here about synthetic oil.

It makes shifting smoother and probably protects engine components better than dino oil.

I use synthetic in everything I own. It is not so much about extended change intervals as it is about extra protection........should you accidentally miss an oil change or the engine overheats.

Right now I'm using Mobile 1, MXT4 (or something like that) motorcycle oil, 10W40. Next change, think I'll change to their "V-twin" variety, since it is supposed to be formulated for air cooled engines. Doubt that there is really much difference though.

See these for some REALLY good info. on synthetic oils:

Looks like Rotella-T Synthetic it is. I'm amused to use a diesel oil in my motorcycle.
