I am looking at a little Canadian Marauder 250 that has a bad valve seat, the owner has stated that the seat is impossible to replace/find.

Had a quick look around and finding a good head does not seem to be really easy.

Can anyone confirm if this is a bad project to take on?

Thanx

Check out Partzilla.com and type in the year, model, etc. I think they do have valve seats for the GZ 250. I assume the Marauder engine is the same. Good luck with your search. Valve seats shouldn't be more than $5 or so if available.

Marauder is just the European name for the GZ.

I don't think Suzuki has valve seats for any bike. I checked regardless and they don't for this one. Usually this is done using a generic valve seat and machining it in with an interference fit then grinding and polishing it into the needed fit.

I was wondering if anyone had ever taken this on.

I suspect getting a used head is the only way to make this bike worth while, but like I said, I don't see those for a reasonable price. They run about $500 Cad and a new head runs about $825 Cad
I see a new head on Aliexpress for just under $500 tho that's likely low quality...

The bike is only $300 Cad but I am going to pass on it.
