Bought a GZ250 specifically to use the engine for a mini-trike. I downloaded the manual and see my stator pickup is bad (no voltage when cranking).
I'm obviously rewiring the system and have downloaded the FSM (thanks). My question is if the bike uses a TCI ignition or CDI? Based on 2 wires going to the coil I'm going to assume TCI, but wanted to double check with the experts.

I understood it to be a CDI system. You might want to check with the nearest Suzuki dealership.

I know this is an old post but I was trying to find out the same info and in the service manual I found the schematic. It shows a transistor not a capacitor so TCI it is. Hope this helps someone down the road.

I probably should have responded. You can use a cheap (15$) ignition from ebay intended for a GN125/GS400. Had to cut the wires off but I've got her running well.

Could you please tell me who the seller was. Can not seem to find one like yours. Also I like cutting wires too. Do you have a simple break down on how you wired this cheap CDI to your existing wire harness. Did you need a different ignition coil? Much appreciated
