hello from tacoma, washington

hey everybody, just bought a used suzuki yesterday with only 246 miles on it, looks brand new. i'm taking the MSF class in early june but i just got my permit today so i can cruise around my neighborhood and get a feel for it.

question: how on earth do you open the under-the-seat compartment? i can't get the key to turn very far at all.
another question: is there a GV250, and if there is what's the difference between that and the GZ250? or do people just make typos a lot?

GV250 is not a Suzuki moto, is a Hyosung also called Aquila

This was one of the choice. A hyosung GV250 (with 28hp, injection)... The price is 3000-3200 EURO (in romania).

I have bought a Suzuki Marauder GZ250. With 2300 Km, 2007. almost new.

It doesn't turn very far. It releases a latch under the back of the driver's seat. Usually there is a little snap when it actually releases. Play with the back of the seat a bit. Pushing down or pulling up slightly might help. Once it's off, a little lube on the latch mechanism will help a LOT.

Hi Jib, good looking bike. Same color as Lynda's 06. Ditto for the seat removal. Turn key and jiggle the seat a bit, maybe lift slightly. Small but useable storage under seat. You will probably find a tool kit and owners manual there with luck.

when the guy i bought it from was showing it to me he stuck the key in, turned it, and it looked like he just pulled the seat right off. he made it look so easy! but inside there's a tool kit. no manual, they couldn't find it. but i want to put the registration in there.

Get a manual for under the seat. Read it first of course and it will be your friend if anything minor goes wrong or just as an available reference at hand. Don't leave home without it.

i still can't get the damn seat off... someone come over here and show me how because obviously i'm incapable.

i rode on the freeway for the first time today! there's about a three-mile stretch through the port of tacoma and i topped out around 70mph (on a slight incline). it was awesome. i've put about 60 miles on the thing since i bought it... i've been trying to stay off it until i take my MSF class but i can't help myself.

anyone else live in the seattle-tacoma area?

Find a dealer, indy shop or another biker. You actually have to put a little pressure on the key to snap the latch open. Once open, a drop or two of oil on the latch mechanism should solve the problem for the future.

Another possibility is that the latch is loose instead of too tight. If that is the case, turn the key and pull up gently on the BACK of the front seat.
