bad noise

I got a bad metalic rapping sound coming from the motor that goes away when it warms up.
It is onsetting and getting worse quickly. Because of the 'warm up and everything is fine'
symptom I'm thinking piston slap.
Think the next 'trigger' I pull is one of those ebay piston, cyl, ring, gasket sets.

Any thoughts?
