I am not skilled at anything mechanical. But I'm beginning to realize I need to learn. What type of tools would i need as a starter shade tree mechanic. Metric tools I would assume.
Also what kind of manual do I need?

The manual is here for your use.
As for tools there is no limit if you get carried away.
Get a set of open end/box end metric wrenches. A 3/8ths socket set in metric that includes a couple extensions.
I find a 1/4 inch socket set is usually handier because of the size and packability on a bike. Also find an impact driver that you will rarely use but is worth it's weight in gold the day you need it. All of these tools are not that pricey if you wait for a sale somewhere.
Pick up a cheap meter and test light too.
As you use tools you will gain a feel for your next buy at the tool bar so don't go out and spend a bunch of $ the first time round.
A variety of tie straps and electrical connectors, electrical tape, wire, scissors and pliers are a good start. Don't forget a crescent wrench and vise grips.
Note...............you will never have all the tools on hand that you need so just buy some when the need is there.
