In WV, got first motorcycle, after starting to learn on a 1983 kawasaki 1100 for a day I traded it for a 2005 gz250 with 1200 miles on it.
Really enjoying the new project and having fun

This bike is much more manageable than the 1100 :) hahah good call.
With a little more saddle time, you'll see that the overall size of the bike doesn't matter. But since this is your learning experience, I'm glad you downsized some.
Welcome home.

Welcome. Your choice to trade down to a more manageable bike is a good one. An 1100cc bike is a lot of unneeded bike and would likely hurt you in a short time. A GZ is all you need at present. It is a very forgiving bike and will let you develop riding skills that you will need.
A professional rider's training course will be a tremendous help and is required in many areas. Also pick up a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. His experience and knowledge is the best life insurance you can buy.
