Please permit me to ask what many might consider a really dumb question.
When parking the GZ250, is it advisable to leave it in gear or in neutral?
thanks

shaunCW78--thank you. Makes perfect sense. I have now parked mine in gear and I feel better about it.

On flat ground I leave it in neutral just so I don't accidentally forget it is in gear and let go of the clutch. On any amount of hill though, I leave it in first.

There are no dumb questions allowed on this forum. Never be afraid to sound less than brilliant around here, we have all been there and will continue to answer without snide remarks or B.S. Your question is more than reasonable. Shaun answered with a valid safety related response which many riders never consider. Win/win.

Qasual - First, another small thing is that when people who don't respect your property and try to sit on your bike it doesn't unexpectedly roll in neutral possibly having them drop the bike.

Cathy--I never would have thought of that!

Thank you. I just try to treat fellow riders as I would like to be treated. This forum (management and members alike)have been the best group I have ever run across on the net. A War of Words and Put Downs found on some forums is a poor attitude and drives away some folks who really just need a bit of help with a burning question. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I found this forum shortly after Lynda bought her GZ and I had a multitude of questions about the GZ. All the members were very helpful and had advice about all sorts of aftermarket questions that were spinning around in my head.
GZ 250 Forums may not be the biggest but it is the best.
Cathy: your thought about the safety of others is excellent. Even a relatively lighter bike is a hard lift with a leg trapped under it.

When parked on a really steep slope you can lock up the front brake too. Just carry a strip of Velcro to wrap around the grip and brake lever. Just wind the Velcro around a mirror stalk when not in use.
