Battery???

Hi All,

I think my bike battery is going, I couldnt start the bike this afternoon after 12 hours of not riding it. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a battery for a 2001 GZ250?

I tried bike bandits but I think they are sold out.

We have battery stores here called Battery Source. They have or can get just about anything. They will also tets it fo you.

Pep Boys or Autozone didn't have the battery so I just got mine from the dealer. I don't know if I got ripped off but it cost me $80.

Yea you got ripped off lol. Last cycle battery i bought, which was 2 years ago cost me like 25 bucks. I got it at Kmart if i remember correctly. I know walmart carries them too.

Do you guys use self-sealed or factory-sealed batteries? Are self-sealed batteries a pain to prepare? I got a factory-sealed battery that was charged at the dealer so maybe that's why it was more expnsive.

Yea that could be why, but also dealers tend to inflate prices alot too. I get self sealed .... all you have to do is put in the electrolyte and turn the vehicle/bike on and let it charge a few minutes on its own. Pretty painless unless you get some of that stuff on yourself lol.

I've never had to get a battery for my GZ250s. When I do I'm going to start at Battery Source. We have two stores in my area and I get all the batteries for my cages, lawn equipment etc here. They are knowledgeable fast and cheap. Thay have or can get just about any battery. I've even seen them building battery packs for a customer.They have a web site but its new and not very useful.

I would go for sealed batteries every time if one is available. I don't like having to deal with the acid.

To each their own. I do not mind so much dealing with the acid (filling my new battery with juice). I had to buy a new battery for my ride this year. It is not a maintenance free battery. But you can work on any battery out there, even maintenance free ones. Course all you can really do with any battery is top it up. Unfortunately I cant give you guys really good info on where to get stuff as I live in Canada and most of you as I see, live in the US of A. Any battery will do so long as it fits. Just be sure you know what youre getting and that it can supply the bike with at least the minimal it needs, and that the battery does what you want (maintenace free or with caps you can top up the electrolite).
