Better and safer to be a sanitation worker.

What I don't understand is why some folks pretty much hate all LEO's until they need one.

Oh they hate you again AFTER you've helped them too.

I always found domestic disputes one of the most tricky things to handle. Frequently both participants would end up turning on the police, even though, moments before they had been fighting each other like cats and dogs, and one or both had called us. I certainly don't miss all that crap!

Fawlty, you were a cop????
A friend of mine said domestic disputes were the most unpredictable encounters he experienced. I have always thought cops have the most under appreciated job on earth. It takes a special kind of person to be a cop. I know I could never have been a cop.

Yes WW man and boy! Different world now though. Glad it's all over for me. Having said that, I do miss the camaraderie at times. Had some great times and some not so great, but that's life. Spent most of my service as a Detective. I also know that I could never be a cop today, I would probably end up in all sorts of trouble! (Don't ask me why). The Chief will know.

Pretty sure I understand. Some of the older RCMP I talk to have interesting tales of their early years and how things have changed.
Thank you for your service. I am sure you helped may folks over the years.
