welcome to the forum marunui. So far the farthest I have traveled on my gz 250 is about 150 miles. I made two stops about 5 to 10 minutes each. I had no problems with the bike. make sure to check your oil and tire pressure and all lights and stuff before you take your ride. I'm sure others on this forum have gone further. good luck and ride safe.

You don't say how far a distance or your planned time on the road so I will just say this. The GZ took Lynda half way across Canada and back when she had it. It was only a touch over 5000 kms(3000 miles). Fully loaded and then some.
Don't ask your bike to exceed it's abilities and you will be fine.

200 kms is a good coffee run for the GZ. Fear not, you will give out before the bike ever will. If you encounter a lot of altitude changes your engine power will vary. You will loose approx. 7% of your power for every 1000 ft of added altitude.

Just a hint for comfort. Sprinkle some talcum powder in your undies. You don't want Monkey Butt to make the first long ride a pain in the rear.

The longest day that I did on the GZ was 675 km or 420 miles.
This was on a 45 mph National park road.
We did 1400 miles in 4 days.

We'll I done the timaru to Dunedin trip today great roads dry and hot it was at times scary but my city riding did help me with corners at times very windy and did get a little shake here and there but very Kool day I first waz tense then afta the first 50 miles I just relaxed and found me and the bike began to cruise together great ride very impressed with the 250 cc power .i did get a lot of head wind which I could feel the bike battling for power but over all very impressed had a few stops first in oamaru then shag point a fav diving spot for me then Dunedin before I knew it I was home to the family all happy I was safe and home mite not be that long to some other riders but for me it's r start ..main thing though I'm safe and the bikes still running awsum.cost me about 10 bucks which iz way cheap so very happy .... Timaru to Dunedin ... I done that one
