Update: Forum Upgrade/Conversion - Please Read!

Hey everyone, just wanted to bring you up to date with the progress of the forum conversion to vBulletin software.

It's pretty much all done, except for some odds & ends here and there (still have to get all uploaded attachments working, and smilies, etc.), so please bear with us. But everything is functional and you can start using the forum like you always have.

Logging In
If you're unable to login, you'll need to request a new password. To do so, click the "Forgot Password?" link that is present after you try to login (and fail). A new password will be emailed to you. If you don't see it in your email inbox, please check your spam/junk folder. After receiving your new password and logging in, if you wish to change your password to something else, you can do so by visiting your User CP (http://www.gz250bike.com/forum/usercp.php) and clicking on Edit Email & Password located in the left-side menu.

As you can see, we tried to keep the forum cosmetically looking like the old one as much as possible, so the change wasn't so "drastic". In the near future though we're planning on giving you a fresh new design, so keep an eye out for that. :)

And oh yea, you'll notice NO MORE spam! :D We should be able to eliminate most of that now, if not all. But don't be surprised if one or two pop up here or there. Nothing like it was though.

I think that about covers it for now. If you have any questions, or notice any other problems that weren't mentioned here, please post in this thread and let us know about them.

On the old forum my computer remembered my login details, so I just had to click Login. On this new forum, I seem to have to enter my user name and password every time I come on the site, even though the computer is set to remember my details. Am I doing something wrong, for this site, or is it set up so that I have to enter my details every time?

How come avatar pics are gone (shows up on profile) & Sig pic wont show unless you click on the link??

The pic in your profile is a profle pic, not an avatar. You need to re-upload your avatar image, and add your signature picture again. All of that is done in your User CP.

Oops sorry about that. The "do not use a avatar" icon is on & won't reset so I can upload a pic.Also reloaded Sig pic & can only get the link as it says can't upload animated Gif's for sig.

Yes, I ticked it. If I come back on in a short while, everything's ok. If I come back after a few hours, the box is unticked, and I have to put my user name in, but then my password comes up (******) and I then click to login.

Agreed, Alan. Something in your browser is resetting after a few hours. It works fine for me.
Are you on Chrome, Firefox or, gasp, IE?

I'm on firefox. (windows xp) Can you walk me through the resetting of cookies etc? My computer knowledge is not all that great. But like I said, it worked fine on the old site, and I've not altered any computer settings, and the user name/password is stored in the remembered password section of firefox tools.

Go into Tools-Preferences then select the Privacy Tab. Click on 'clear your recent history' (in blue). Another box will open, tick cookies and cache boxes and then click Clear Now. Restart Firefox and you should be OK. Any probs. get back to me.

To any moderator out there...........I've added a new picture to an old thread of mine - Nothing to do with bikes - but I notice that all the pictures I put up on the old site have vanished, to be replaced by " attachments". Is there any way of getting them back, because it's a thread that I update every Christmas?

I'm not sure how far along Mike is with the conversion of the old attached files into the new forum.
If you still have the photos, I remember them fairly well, and I can host them for you and place them inline with your original posts. It'll also be good to have an off-site link to the photo so this doesn't happen again somewhere down the line, like what happened to some of the older how-to posts a long time ago. (I no longer have the original photos so recreating that would require one of you fellas taking some photos... hint hint ;) )

I've found out why I was losing my login details. I updated Ccleaner, and when I ran it. it cleaned my details out. I unticked "cache" etc., and now it retains my login details. Just thought I'd let you know, in case anyone else was having the same problems.

I don't know that this version of the forum supports it yet. That's over my head though, to be honest. It took Dupo quite a while to get it set up back in the day on the 1.0 site and no one really used it.

Do you guys think there is a big enough demand for it that it would be used by more than 2 of us?

Great to hear about the progress on the forum upgrade! The transition to vBulletin sounds like it's going smoothly, (https://bases-coc.com/bases/th11/) and it’s exciting to see the improvements, especially with spam reduction.
