Hi everyone,

New owner of this bike. It has been sitting in a garage since 2008. Black color. Non-running. Small tears in both seats. No front fender. Tires have first signs of cracking in the sidewalls. Handlebars bent. Rich smell of varnishy gas in fuel tank. One side cover broken and the other one dangling.

Took it home. Replaced starter fuse and got it to turn over (with fuel tank disconnected). Able to get it to run using starting fluid. Dumped old gas. Pulled carb and cleaned 3 jets and bowl. Used starting fluid again and got her to fire up. After getting some gas in the carb she just kept on running.

Under 1800 miles on the bike and $450 invested at that point. Bought a new battery saturday ($40) and ordered a fender off eBay. Rode it up and down the street Sunday. Sounds good and shifts smoothly. Idle speed is unsteady and it seems like the choke cable is frozen. Didn't mess with cable when I had the carb apart.

This will be a learner bike for my GF. Seems like it will be a good machine for that purpose.

It's going to serve it's purpose admirably. And when it's done, you'll make a profit off of it.

Good buy, man. And welcome to the club.

Glad to hear you have brought a forgotten bike back to life. Toss the tires for new ones. Check the airbox for little creatures who may have made a home there. New oil and filter after sitting for so long. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum.
