I have decided to part out my 1999 GZ 250 with 16400 miles on it. I have owned it for almost 6 years now. Since I got my new bike about three years ago it hasn't been ridden very much and has spent most of its time collecting dust in my garage. It is in fair condition and does need some work which is why I have decided to part it out, it would cost more to fix than the bike is worth but still has a lot of good parts. This bike still runs and is rideable but needs engine work. I am still researching fair prices for various parts so let me know what parts your interested in.
Problems and missing/broken parts
-major oil leak around the head gasket and the exhaust manifold which causes a lot of smoke.
-handlebars are slightly bent.
-speedometer cable is broken
-missing battery cover
-missing front sprocket cover
-missing left rear turn signal
-front tire has a leak and has low tread
Sold Parts-- Updated 10-12-2013
-gas tank
-front and rear fenders
-saddle bags
-engine head and cylinder
-left rider foot peg
-front reflector w/ bracket
-front and rear seats
-left switch assy.
-lock set (ignition, gas cap, seat lock)
-starter
-speedometer w/ bracket
-carburetor
-left mirror
-Headlight unit
-front brake line
-front brake lever
-fuel petcock

Ah!!! If you were only closer.
On a side note I went to college in Daytona beach. Fun town, at least for a few months of the year.

How much are you looking to get for the gas tank? What kind of condition is it in? I'm from Pennsylvania so if possible we would also have to work out the shipping.

The Gas tank is in good condition. The top of the tank has a lot of small scratches that can bee seen up close but not from a distance. I would offer $85 for the tank and $30 for shipping for a total of $115.
I'm interested in the cylinder jug / cylinder head. Also might be interested in the saddlebags / support. Thanks.

Hi! I could use the front reflectors (looks like you may only have one) and the bracket. Mine are totally gone. Also the left foot peg if it's in good shape.

@ way
The engine runs pretty rough and I am not sure of the condition of the cylinder jug and head. Assuming everything is in good condition I would offer $130 + shipping for both the cylinder jug and the head.
When I received the saddle bags as a gift I was a poor college student (and still am) and could not afford to buy the supports. As an engineering student I decided to just make my own so the support is actually a cheap metal bracket I bought at Lowe's but has worked for many years. For the saddle bags and my homemade support ( included for free) I would ask $50 + shipping. I could combine the shipping for $30.
@ JohnC
Yes you are correct I am missing one of the reflectors.
I am assuming you mean the rider foot peg and not the passenger foot peg. It is in good shape, it does have some rubber scraped off the bottom. For the foot peg and I would ask $10 + $5 shipping and I would throw in the front reflector and its bracket for free.
@ imoon1221
The fenders are in good condition both have some lite scuffs and scratches. I would ask $50 +$25 shipping for both font and back fenders.
The muffler is in fair condition. The exhaust pipes have a a lot of rust on them. The muffler has a good amount of surface rust on the top and a burn mark from where the bottom of my wife's shoe melted to it. Also the back has three extra holes that one of the P.O.'s drilled into it presumably to add performance to the GZ. I would ask $55 for the muffler + $40 for shipping.
Do you know if the valves are making noise or do you think it's running rough because of the gasket leak? I guess I just need to know if it's a metallic kind of rapping noise or not. Was the oil level okay?
Saddlebags in good shape, no holes? Thanks, don't mean to ask so many questions. :hide:

Gone out flying-
Do you go to embry riddle. I just put the name and the location together.
That's the school I started at years ago.

I have no problems with questions.
There is a rattling noise when the engine is running which is one of the reasons I am a little worried of the condition of the upper engine components. The Oil level is still ok. I will look into it more and update you with what I find.
As for the saddle bags they still look almost brand new (aside from some dust it has collected sitting in my garage).

Yes I did go to Embry Riddle until last year when I ran out of money to keep feeding them with. Now I am looking to transfer to another school. When I started I wanted to learn to fly and study Aerospace Engineering  And I ultimately chose Engineering
"Goose" is that from Top Gun?
I'll definitely take the saddlebags w/hardware.
Not sure what rattling would be (bearings maybe?) doesn't sound like a valve rap though.

It is from top gun.
Riddle was a good school but too costly for me too. That and the constant parties near the beach were a little too tempting for me.
Plus I was a bus boy at the hooters across from the track. Not the most conducive environment for studying. Haha

Do you still have the gas tank and front fender? i also have a 99 in the same color but my tank has seen better days, (it's injuries happened before i owned it.)
I live in washington so shipping would be a must. Thanks for your time.

Sorry I have already sold the fenders and the gas tank. Those were some of the first items to be sold.

Do you have the clutch lever/handle? And how much? Also, what about your chain tensioner? ..... I know you mentioned noise from the top--Have you seen the rocker arms and cam shaft? I would be curious about those if they are in decent condition? Thanks..............

By the way, I am in Orlando and would be willing to drive out and check out your remaining parts. I have a 2007, which I believe most parts are going to be compatible with 1999. ....
