Hey everyone this my first post so if I doing something wrong I'm sorry. I never used a forum before. Ok my problem is my clutch cable broke while riding. I have mechanical experience and replacing the cable seems strait forward the real problem I'm seeing is the linkage at the motor moves pretty freely by hand. Is there movement there or is this a sign I have other problems. The cable broke at the top right near the leaver. I was just wondering if there is something internal that might have broke or came loose? I read that the engine oil lubes the tranny and clutch too? Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is my first bike I really enjoy it! It 2007 got it used has 3800 miles on it :rawk:

If you physically see the cable damaged or broken, start there since you will be fixing it anyway. If the other lever that is mounted directly to the clutch housing is moving freely with just a little more pressure than your handlebar level you should be ok.

It will stretch a bit in the begining, keep an eye on the lever's "free play".

I too snapped the clutch cable. The lever mounted to the clutch housing moves freely and does not go "back". It stays where I place it, no resistance at all. Is there a return spring I may have broken? I didn't replace the cable yet.

Don't worry, that's the free play area, once it starts separating the plates you need quite some pulling force on it.
