Hi, my name is Alan, and I'm a 250 addict.

I just purchased a 2008 GZ250; my 9th motorcycle, and 5th 250. I'm generally more of a sport-tourer rider (2nd gen Ninja 250s, Concours) but I wrecked a bike last fall (my beloved G650GS) outside of Mena, AR, and screwed up my left arm so I can't stretch to reach sportbike handlebars.

So, to get back riding again I bought the GZ.

Welcome, man. You're in good company. I've never owned anything larger than a 250 and I've had 6 bikes. :)

Wait, are you the same loudboys from the ninja250.net site?

With the white street fighter?

Awesome. I must have been thinking of someone else. I don't remember the guy's name, but he was younger and did a custom fiberglass tail mod or something and had those dirtbike headlights that look like a some weird lizard-esque eyeballs.

Either way, glad to have you over here.

Sweet profile (those bikes on the other site). Welcome to the gz250 forum!

Thanks! The only one I still have is the rally bike (with the hard bags and auxiliary tank). I may eventually ride it again; it's got bar risers and a more forward riding position than a stock Ninja 250, so I can reach the bars.

For the moment, the GZ's my ride. It met my requirements exactly; an easy reach to the bars, light and easy to move around.

Also, it's got more than enough guts to run around town, but it's not really a highway bike, so I won't be tempted to hit the road so easily (I know, you can tour on anything but the GZ and Ninja pretty much exactly bracket the "run comfortably at 75mph all day" line). I'm keeping the stock gearing for that reason, too.
