wet sanding

Anyone know about wet sanding a gas tank that is down to bare metal........... Like my gas tank is :)

No need to wet sand the bare metal.I used #320 & a good filler primer.

My research says to wet sand then primer, then wet sand again then primer heavier, then wet sand again the even heavier primer, then paint your color and wet sand, a few coats more of my color then clear coat.

To each his own.That is a flat black base over 2 coats of primer,sanded in between with #400 grit & followed with 3 coats of clear.

Sanded in between your primer coats or your base color paint ?? I also just filled a small dent with "BONDO".

Just between primer & base coat.My tank also had a small dent just behind the filler cap.
IMO wet sanding the bare metal is a invitation for rust to form. Oh that's also done with spray can hanging up in my porch.
