Replacing Clutch Cable

Putting on a new clutch cable. I removed the linkage from the shaft but can't remember which way it goes back on. I see a slash mark on the top of the shaft, is there a certain way that it installs on the linkage?

If that is a "before" pic then install it the same way with the new cable. Use a dab of blue loktite on the threads of the bolt.

I wish it was a before pic but I just sat the linkage on the shaft and there's not enough tension on the cable, so I"ll try to align the hash mark with the gap in the linkage.

IIRC your right the gap in the linkage lines up with the slash mark. (no longer have my G.Z. to check for you)

Just compared our photos. Looking at the bolt in relation to the flat bar, it does look as though you are slightly counter clockwise to the position of mine, so, perhaps, the slot should line up.

As long as it is positioned on the splines so the cable is tight enough for you to get your proper "free play" at the lever you should be good to go.
