Thank you for emailing us in regard to your GZ250. I would factor $300-400 for your valve adjustment, including new gasket, and shims.

Hope that information helps. If you would like us to schedule you in, just give us a call.

Thanks!

Where do you think they are going to put the shims?

Wow!! Avoid them like the Plague. I doubt they have many return customers.

Bet you are glad you did the job yourself.

Where the Sun don't shine of course.

If anyone takes it to the shop, it should be 1 hour's labour & no parts.

That's exactly what it was on Lynda's GZ. Final tally was between $100-$110.

Very glad I did it myself. IF I get to keep the GZ I'll buy a Harbor freight wheel balancer to do the tires myself too!!

I say if because stepdaughter saw a fresh accident - van turned infront of motorcycle, wheels still turning on overturned van and bodies laying in roadway. Family is set against my continuing to ride.

Does that mean the rest of the family will stop driving?? Not likely I would imagine. We realize as riders that there is more risk on 2 wheels but we accept that. You have no doubt seen a lot of road carnage on the job and know first hand of the dangers to life and limb.
Just buy that big old Wing and light it up for visibility on the road. Make a spectacle of yourself.

I ride a stretch of road known for motorcycle deaths, yet it's one of my favorite roads.

You never know (Who, What, When or Where) anything can happen.

I respect the road, but don't dwell on things that I have no control over.

Control is the key word. As a rider you have "control" over where, when, how etc you ride. You also control your skill level and safety as much as possible. If not then best drive a cage. Cages rely on a few less brain cells to operate but there is still the control factor. Idiot proof cages are the ruin of many drivers. They no longer really need to be in actual control because the cage will save their sorry a$$.
There are very few idiot proof bikes so the uncontrolling riders get weeded out fairly quickly.

I will continue to ride. You're right they weren't going to stop driving haha
