Engine sprocket bolt

Does anyone know what size wrench I need to remove the engine sprocket bolt? The biggest I have is a 1" and it's not nearly big enough

Nevermind, I went down to Harbor Freight and got a 32mm because that was the only one bigger than 1" that they sold solo and it worked. A 30mm would have been a better fit, but 32 works just fine. Also, it's very hard to hold the rear brake with your foot, keep the bike from tipping, and apply 65lbs of pressure to get the bolt off...

I learned on this forum that you can tie a strip of velcro around your front brake lever to keep it from rolling. I think WaterWarrior was the one i read that from. Hes very helpful here.

I tried a zip tie, but the back tire will slide if the rear brake isn't held

You could also leave it in gear. Use a long cheater bar so you can more easily sit on the bike to loosen the nut while stepping on the rear brake.
For folks with cast wheels on the bike you can just slip a piece of wood through the wheel and across the swing arm. The wheel will be stopped cold when it tries to turn.

I got one of those cheater bars stuck in where the swingarm pivot bolt goes... I was hammering it in and it finally got the pivot bolt out when the frame slipped off the swingarm and now I can't even see in where my cheater bar is because the frame's in the way. That's the only thing keeping my engine on the frame right now, and I dont know how to move anything to get back to the swingarm pivot thing...

Thanks man I appreciate your help :D I might just part the bike anyway if I cant find any valves or valve springs, (whatever my problem happens to be) so it couldn't hurt to pull stuff apart. Good learning experience too!

Don't even think about working on the GZ with imperial wrenches. You'll bugger the bolt heads up. EVERYTHING is metric. :)

I got the engine out! Now I have another problem... I have all the screws out to pull the cylinder head cover off, but there's some blue crap the mechanic put on most likely to seal it... and I can't get the cover off

It's a very tight fit using dowel pins. Use a plastic mallet or a wood block and give the cover a few raps with a hammer slightly upwards it will break free. Be absolutely sure you have all the cover bolts removed or you will break the cover !

It's not working :( I'm smashing this thing with a rubber mallet and all it's doing is chipping little pieces of rubber off the mallet
