Anyone here ever try any snowmobile gear for cold weather motorcycle riding?

I used to ride a snowmobile to work in sub zero weather?

Yes. Works quite good. Not much difference in the riders environment between the two vehicles.......except maybe the bike might go faster, longer.

Are you planning on moving to Illinois or just planning for those 5 days a year when it gets below 50 degrees ?? :roll:

Just curious. I gave and old one to my son-in-law that didn't fit me anymore. He used it and really liked it. I've wondered about it a lot in cold weather. It would be nice if they made one for riding bike that would keep you warm and give you som protection if you fell. All the snowmobile gear I have ever seen would shred on pavement.

I've had snowmobiles that would out run a GZ250 easy. One that would go faster than I would.

I can get a heated shield for my helmet to keep the frost off.

Hey Bob, That is what I am using to ride to work now. It was 48' F in the mornings this week, and I was comfortable. Works for me. Later.

Snow machine clothing makes a lot of sense for cold weather riding. I would think the crash protection would lack a fair bit but you could wear M/C gear with armor under it. I have found that rain gear cuts the cold wind and an extra layer of clothing for warmth is a reasonable alternative in some cases.
