Hi there

I may have to replace my brake caliper on my 2001 GZ250. I rounded the allen head of the brake pad mounting bolt and my attempts to drill it out failed. Instead of stopping and getting help, like an idiot I just kept drilling

I have left it in the shop and they are going to make an attempt to get it out so maybe all is not lost but in the meantime I am looking at ebay and I can get used calipers from the USA but they will take 2 weeks to get to me, there is one for a gz125 available in the UK which will get to me quicker in Ireland.

My question is, are the calipers on a GZ125 identical to a GZ250??

Thanks for you help

Michael

Hi Michael,

Hope the shop can fix it for you in any event.

One of our members from London posted a link here:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3551&hilit=125+parts (http://www.gz250bike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3551&hilit=125+parts)

The actual link:

http://www.cmsnl.com/

Here are schematics links for the calipers for a 125 and a 250:

http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gz125-2000- ... ml#results (http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gz125-2000-y_model13796/partslist/FIG41.html#results)

http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gz250-usa_m ... ml#results (http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gz250-usa_model16121/partslist/432104.html#results)

I'm not sure whether or not they do. The parts numbers are similar but the last few numbers are different. That might be due to the model though. I'm on an old laptop computer so a little slow searching but hopefully this can give you an idea.

The guy selling the part says that it will fit a GZ250 but obviously I want to be sure

Thanks for the links to the schematics. When I selected the GZ250 1999(X) model instead, the brake caliper part number(5930024B20) is the same as the part number for the GZ125 2000(Y) so I would think that the part is identical.

Thanks for your help

Michael
