....but given I just bought the Vulcan and I likely don't quite have the skills yet to handle the V-Max, I have to pass. But still, an 85 V-Max for only $2,200 is awfully tempting. The cheapest I've seen in the Twin Cities area is typically around 3,250 to 3,500. Rochester is about 90 minutes from the Twin Cities.

Just out of curiousity, what are the thoughts out there on the V-Max? Anyone ridden one and any thoughts on it? I've been attracted to them since I laid eyes on them. From what little I've read, these seem to be heavily customized in Europe.

I too have been tempted to have a Vmax. The design/appearance of the bike is second to none in my mind. They are exactly what they appear to be. A massive engine held up by 2 wheels and meant to move you to warp speed in the blink of an eye. I think if I ever rode one I would be hooked.
According to a Vmax owner in this area the bike has a dandy following in Europe and a good to decent line of add-ons for travelling. I'm sure that would include a larger tank.

I had picked up a few magazines at the thrift store a month or two back. To my joy, one of them (Cycle World from January 2002) had an article on some of the customization over in Europe. Although I've like the V-Max for a while now, this one (see pic) by Andy Griffiths really caught my eye (it's the bottom red one). Saweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I like the first one most. The paint sets it off real nice.

There seems something terribly wrong about making a trike out of a V-Max.
