Am I think only one scratching his head at this posting for this motorcycle for sale? :??: $1,000 extra if they do the battery and carb clean? What?

That is just plain retarded. Closer to the mark if the do the battery, carbs and ask $1000.00.

"$1,000 extra if they do the battery and carb clean"

How about this:

$1,000 - extra if they do the battery and carb clean.
or
$1000 for the bike, extra charge if they replace the battery and do the carb.

I'm sure they didn't mean $1000 for the battery and carb work.

That looks a lot better. Makes a bunch more sense when you write it correctly and read it correctly.

Needs battery and carb clean. We will do it but the price will be $1999.00

Asking Price: Â*$999 Calculate Payments

Looks pretty clear.

Seems pretty clear to me that the price increases by $1,000 if they do the battery and carb clean, but maybe I am misreading it. Just leads me to believe there might be something more wrong with the bike than a battery and a carb clean. A bummer because these guys are one of the more respectable dealers in the Twin Cities area.

Seems to me that you're reading it correctly. $1000 for the work.

Well, you made me go look. I was wrong - it appears that they DO want $1000 for a battery and an hour or two of labor. If Barnum was correct, those guys must own really nice houses and have really nice rides.

Heck of a profit margin they have there.
