Hey so, on two separate occasions, when I try to start the bike i'm greeted by a loud clunk and then nothing. Go for a second attempt and it starts as normal, just wondering why it give that loud clunk initially. If it helps, it just poured on the bike (covered but water still gets through). Anyone with similar issues?

I would guess your battery is marginal or you need to clean the terminals.

That might be it. Today, both times I tried to start cold, it wouldn't run over and I had to keep trying the ignition. On the 2nd occasion, as I'm trying the ignition several times, the bike made a really loud pop, almost like a gunshot or something.

That's just unburned fuel exploding in the muffler from trying to start it too much.
You need to get it cranked and take it on a long ride to stretch her legs and dry up any moisture issues that might have developed from the torrential dousing.
Also, head over to Canadian tire and invest in a battery tender.

Hey thanks for the tip. i've actually been riding it almost daily, given that there's no rain in the forecast. right after the rain, it made that loud metal clunk, but then started fine and hasn't replicated that noise. today is when i experienced trouble starting it on two occasions. that loud bang really freaked me out but i'm glad it's nothing to be too concerned about.
