As some may have noticed I was not around for a week. Lynda and I drove to Vancouver Island and played tourist for a week. Lots of stuff to see and do. Too much for a week actually.
Had fun with our local transportation for a week. Ferry ride to the island. Horse and buggy ride. Bus rides, why drive and look for parking. Water taxis in the harbor. Antique cars to watch going by and junk to buy. All sorts of history from the locals too. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Just found a spelling error, Buchard Gardens is actually Butchart Gardens.

Spelling/name error. Capt George Vancouver not Capt. Cook.

Hey WW,
Great pics, thanks for sharing them. I think I grabbed these "hot off the presses" judging by the posting time. Looks like you both had a nice time. I really like the picture of the two of you in the white carriage. I'm glad you had a wonderful trip together. :2tup:

Now I'll tell you why Capt George Vancouver has 2 left feet. 4 years ago he was removed and brought down for restoration etc. His right foot was accidently destroyed so the restoration folks made a cast of his left foot and attached it to the right leg.
We had a great time and met a lot of folks with historical tidbits, helpful when we got lost and steered us in the right direction. The weather was just right and thankfully my feet finally stopped hurting from all the walking.

Thanks BB. If you ever get the chance to Visit Victoria B.C. it is just beautiful. A small city but well mannered and easy to get around in.
Not all the pics are from Victoria but most are. Will we go back?? Hell yes.

The temps were just about right. We did have a lot of cloud cover which did not play well with some of the pics. I could have worn a lighter jacket and been even happier but I just grabbed this one the day of departure.
I will mention that Victoria must be an international destination. I have never seen and heard so many different folks with different languages except for the international airport in Vancouver.

We've got friends in Nanaimo. Don't know how far that is from where you were, but it looks a nice place on the Photos.

Nanaimo is where we landed on the island. Drove down to Parksville and toured around for 2 days. Then further south to Victoria for the next 4 days. A lot of folks love living on the island and it is big enough to keep you entertained for years.
We left by way of Swartz Bay just a short drive from Victoria and arrived at a different port on the mainland just to keep things interesting. The voyage through the Gulf Islands while going home was very scenic and relaxing.

Thanks Rionna. Plan for a trip to the west coast in the future. Fly, drive, ride, whatever you want. There are various ferries that sail to the island from Washington too. Bellingham, Seattle and Port Angeles have ferries to Victoria.
The more I think of it the more I believe a person could stay within a 300 mile radius of Vancouver and never be stuck for a destination or activity to enjoy. That is a lot of real estate on both sides of the border.

Great pictures. Looks like you two had a wonderful romantic get-away. We'll be going there as part of our next trip to Alaska.

Take as much time off as possible. Having been to Alaska I know that you should never try to hurry in such an amazing state. I'm tempted to start making suggestions but there are so many to choose from.
