The seat on my GZ is falling apart (again). I need to get some material to cover it that will last and hold up to the sun. I recovered my seat 2 or 3 years ago with the heaviest material I could find at the local fabric store. It came out great, and I was quite proud of myself. :2tup: That was, until it started falling apart again.

Does anyone know where to get some good sturdy black vinyl material to make a seat from? Something that will last more that a few years. I think the UV from the sun was the big killer.

You could try some marine vinyl. It's made for the UV rays so the sun won't bother it and you can get it in various thickness. But it's expensive. Sheep skin is another alternative but is expensive also. But the furry side feels good on the butt.

Marine vinyl is probably what I need. Do you know where to get it?

I don't want the sheepskin 'cause it will hold water and my bike is outside most of the time. I could make a removable cover out of it though.

I get my marine sail cloth from www.sailrite.com (http://www.sailrite.com). They have all sorts of stuff that would be good for a seat cover.

Shaving seat foam and recovering.

How can you sit on hot vinyl in Reno?? Redo the seat with the marine stuff and then get a sheepskin from IKEA. Buy a doggy brush to fluff it up now and again..................really comfy and cooler. If it gets wet just shake out the water.
