My little GZ

My 2004 GZ.

I picked up this learner bike, ridden by a bad learner, off of Craigs list for $800. Scruffy.

I bobbed the fenders. Replaced the bent handlebars, replaced the badly cut up wire loom. Made up a LED light bar and added LED turn signals. Back off tail light and headlight modulators. DIY gel seat. Took the dents out of the tank and painted with blackboard paint.

Fun for around town but I will be upgrading to a VS800 Intruder when it is finished.

Hey! Nice looking bike.

I spent a lot of time bike-prorning little bug shields for the GZ but wound up getting a full frontal cafe fairing for a while instead.

Nice work on the tail too.

How did you get the dents out of the tank?

I used a small wooden broom handle to massage the dent from the inside then used fiberglass and LOTS of sanding.

The fender on the floor shows the first cut, the brake light is set there for the picture. The blue tape on the bike is where I made the second and final cut.

Also, do you have laws in Florida that it must be illuminated? Can't see a lamp. :)

Probably still a work in progress with a lamp. DOT says you must have one.

I have two LED lights made to light plates mounted on it. I have seen plates mounted on both sides of bikes, mostly on the left. I thought it blended in better by filling the space between the muffler and the bike.

I used pieces of Aerogel to fill the space in the foot pegs. Aerogel was invented for NASA and is composed of around 98% air. It is an excellent insulator and vibration damper. The OEM pegs now feel better than the kuryakyn's I have on my other bike.
